Admission FAQ

Q.  How do I schedule a tour of the school?

A.  A. You may contact us at 210-497-0323.  You can also contact us via email at info@stjosesanchez.org   Please provide your contact information and the date you prefer to tour. Tours will be given Monday thru Friday between regular school hours and days. Summer hours vary.

Q.  How many admission spaces are available each year?
A.  New students are added to grades 1 through 7 on a limited, space available basis.  It is our sincerest desire to have the best outcomes for all of our students, therefore, it is our policy to consider admitting 6th - 8th grade applicants after a records review. The administration my require a student and family interview as necessary.

Q.  Is financial aid available?
A. YES, Financial aid is available from Hope for the Future, which is affiliated with the Archdiocese of San Antonio.  Hope for the Future provides need-based tuition assistance for Catholic and non-Catholic students who meet eligibility requirements and enroll in one of the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.  Tuition assistance is prioritized by financial need and based on available funding.  Tuition assistant is available for Kinder through 8th grade only. You may apply at www.hopeforfuture.org.

 

Q.  Does you offer an After School Care program?
A. Yes. It is called EDP (Extended Day Program)- please look under the current families tab then click on the Extended Day Program.

Q.  What is St. Jose Sanchez looking for in an applicant?
A.  We seek students who have demonstrated academic potential and curiosity, along with interests or talents in athletics and/or the arts. We offer a nurturing environment that sets students on a path of excellence in learning, living and serving.  We strive to help our students discover their God-given gifts in themselves and appreciate the gifts of others. 

Q.  What are admission decisions based on?
A.  A number of factors are considered in each admission decision including the review of academic records, the review of behavior and conduct records, teacher and principal recommendations and interviews. All applications are given consideration. An opening in your child’s grade does not always guarantee acceptance. 

Q.  Are there any non-Catholic students enrolled at your school?
A.  Yes. Students of other faiths who are accepted to our school do so with the understanding that participation in formal instruction in the Catholic faith is at the core of our curriculum for all students.

Q.  Do you accept applicants at all grade levels?
A.  We accept applicants at all grade levels. Eighth grade applicants will be considered  after a records review and if necessary an interview by the Principal and middle school staff has been completed.
